A groundbreaking project to promote inclusion
An innovative project (Green ASC VET) from Europe, with partners from six EU countries, including Innoversa Factory GmbH from Germany, is bringing Europe and the Arab world closer together. The project aims to utilize modern technology as a vital resource for people with autism. Dr. Leila Mekacher plans to expand the project to the Maghreb countries and the Middle East, as autism is becoming an increasingly significant issue in these regions. Integrating people with autism into the workforce can create added economic value. This project combines knowledge, technology, and social engagement to promote inclusion in the workplace.
Dr. Leila Mekacher at the helm of innovation
Dr. Leila Mekacher plays a dual role as a German partner in this project. In addition to her position as founder and CEO of Innoversa Factory GmbH, she also represents the associated partner, SRH Berufsbildungswerk Neckargemünd, as Director of Digital Research and Innovation. At SRH, she trains young people with special needs in technical professions and immersive technologies.
With her extensive expertise in technology and inclusion, Dr. Mekacher brings significant added value to the project. Her company, Innoversa Factory GmbH, is responsible for the overall quality assurance and homologation of the project.
Innoversa Factory GmbH specializes in the development of advanced technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and 360° VR. Thanks to her pedagogical experience as a scientific educator and trainer for individuals with neurodiversity, Dr. Mekacher is convinced that these technologies can be effectively used to transfer practical and cognitive skills to participants.
Tailored support for a new future
Innoversa Factory GmbH and its partners from Croatia, Portugal, Hungary, Denmark, and Belgium develop personalized training programs tailored to the specific needs of people with autism. In addition to technological support, there is a strong focus on mentoring, adapting workplaces, and building self-confidence among participants.
This approach has already attracted international attention. The program aims to enable young people and adults to develop their skills and significantly increase their chances of long-term and sustainable employment. Employers across Europe are increasingly recognizing the unique strengths of people with autism, such as analytical thinking and precision, and are willing to actively promote an inclusive work culture.
From Europe to the Arab World
Dr. Leila Mekacher, originally from Tunisia, has announced her intention to implement this model in the Arab countries, starting with the Maghreb countries – Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. In addition to research and development, her company Innoversa Factory has the exclusive rights to distribute virtual reality simulators for more than 12 professions in the MENA region and the GCC region. These regions suffer from a lack of specialized support for people with autism, especially young adults who often struggle to find a place in the labor market.
By building local partnerships with NGOs, government institutions, and educational organizations, Innoversa hopes to further increase the impact of the program. The goal is not only to support people with autism but also to raise awareness in communities about the importance of inclusion.
Dr. Leila Mekacher’s role in the project
Dr. Leila Mekacher, as a German engineer, plays a key role in the European project that utilizes technology to support individuals with autism. Through her dual role – both as a partner with her company Innoversa Factory and as an associated partner in her position with the SRH Group – she effectively bridges academic and industrial perspectives.
Dr. Mekacher emphasizes that the association “NGO #Struka” from Croatia, founded by Mr. Željko Habek, acts as the coordinator of the project “Green ASC VET” and plays a vital role in ensuring alignment and organization within the international team. Together with this partner, Dr. Mekacher is planning further steps aimed not only at expanding the project but also at establishing an official collaboration between Europe and the Arab world.
